How do I start painting a picture?

07/03/2025

Starting a picture sometimes is difficult, why because there is so much I would like to paint. At first I can't decide which motif I want to start with, then I sit and look at all my own pictures. Then I go to Pixabay and search. Then it becomes even harder to decide. For those who don't know what Pixabay is, it's a site where there's a huge amount of images that are free to use. There is a lot of inspiration to be found there. Today I actually managed to decide quite quickly, maybe because I was under a bit of time pressure when I started painting late. I have become fond of painting old things like old boat wrecks, barns, cars and machines are some of them in other words everything that is a little fall finished. Why, because I think it tells a story. Imagine how much has happened around, in, on and inside these things.

Today it was an old rusty tractor. Imagine what a story then. How many laps has it done on a field patch. Imagine when it was new red and shiny, how happy the person most likely was to get this particular tractor. how many memories, thoughts and dreams the person had when they drove around in the field. And then maybe become an annoyance when something broke after a while. Out in bad weather and nice. It worked just as diligently in the field. When it got old, it was left Replaced with a new and stronger machine because it gets old and in the end does not measure up to the job it had. Then it got a different life by standing there and decaying in colour and shape. Now maybe it became, so to speak, an object that a child might walk around and pretend that she or he was a hard-working farmer. Who knows, I think it's beautiful.

How are image layers? It is first sketched out and then drawn up with waterproof markers. I have also become very fond of this method and get to practice a lot on sketching and drawing. Then I fill in with the colon I think fits into this picture. It really gives me a good feeling.
